Apple Cranberry Crisp

A warm and comforting dessert featuring tart cranberries and sweet apples, topped with a buttery oat crumble. Perfect for fall and holiday gatherings.

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, cranberries, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Mix well and transfer to a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
  4. Add the cold butter to the oat mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the fruit mixture in the baking dish.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for better flavor balance.
  • Frozen cranberries can be used without thawing.
  • Add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the topping for extra crunch.
