Apple Dump Cake

Apple Dump Cake is an easy, no-fuss dessert made with apple pie filling, cake mix, and butter. It requires minimal prep and delivers a warm, comforting treat with a crisp, buttery topping and sweet apple filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle cake mix evenly over the apple filling. Do not stir.
  4. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much of the surface as possible.
  5. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the top if using.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • You can use spice cake mix instead of yellow cake mix for extra flavor.
  • Fresh sliced apples (about 6 cups) can replace canned filling—just mix with 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons flour before layering.
  • This dessert is best served warm but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
