A classic apple pie with a sweet and crunchy streusel topping, offering a delightful twist on a traditional dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups sliced peeled apples (Granny Smith or your choice)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for streusel)
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for streusel)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for streusel)
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice. Toss until apples are evenly coated.
  3. Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Spoon the apple mixture into the crust.
  4. In a separate bowl, prepare the streusel topping by combining flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
  5. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the apple filling.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45–50 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbly.
  8. If the crust or topping begins to brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil during baking.
  9. Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the filling to set.

Notes

  • Best served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • You can prepare the streusel topping in advance and refrigerate it until ready to use.
  • Mix different apple varieties for a deeper flavor profile.
