- 4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into 1/2-inch rounds.
- In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, vanilla extract, and maple syrup if using.
- Place the sweet potatoes in a baking dish and pour the brown sugar mixture over them. Toss to coat evenly.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil, baste the sweet potatoes with the glaze, and continue baking uncovered for another 15–20 minutes, or until tender and caramelized.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- Use dark brown sugar for a deeper molasses flavor.
- Can be made a day ahead and reheated before serving.
- Maple syrup adds a nice extra depth but can be omitted.
