Buttered Popcorn

Classic buttered popcorn is a simple, savory snack made with freshly popped kernels coated in melted butter and a touch of salt. Perfect for movie nights or a quick treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for popping)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add a few popcorn kernels and cover with a lid.
  3. Once the kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn kernels in an even layer.
  4. Cover the pot and shake occasionally as the kernels begin to pop.
  5. When popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
  6. Transfer the popcorn to a large bowl.
  7. Drizzle melted butter over the popcorn while tossing to coat evenly.
  8. Sprinkle salt to taste and toss again before serving.

Notes

  • Use clarified butter or ghee for a richer flavor and less soggy texture.
  • For healthier options, air-pop the kernels and use less butter.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep crispy.
