Cheese and apple slices

A quick, no-cook snack pairing crisp apple wedges with creamy cheddar cheese for a sweet-savory bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium apple, cored and sliced
  • 2 oz (60 g) sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 1 tsp lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
  • 1 Tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for drizzling)
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Core the apple and cut into thin wedges. If desired, toss slices with lemon juice to keep them from browning.
  2. Arrange apple and cheddar slices alternately on a small serving plate or board.
  3. Drizzle honey or maple syrup over the top, if using.
  4. Lightly dust with a pinch of cinnamon for added warmth.
  5. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Choose a firm, tart apple variety such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best flavor contrast.
  • Swap cheddar for Gouda, Manchego, or a mild blue cheese to change the profile.
  • For a protein boost, add a handful of toasted nuts alongside.
  • Omit honey for a lower-sugar, diabetic-friendly option.
