A comforting Italian-inspired dish featuring tender cheese-filled tortellini simmered in a rich, herby tomato sauce for a quick yet satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 oz (250 g) cheese tortellini, fresh or refrigerated
  • 2 cups (480 ml) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook tortellini according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  4. Add cooked tortellini to the skillet and toss gently to coat in the sauce.
  5. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan and fresh basil if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh pasta for best texture and flavor.
  • You can substitute store-bought marinara for homemade sauce.
  • For a creamier version, stir in 1/4 cup heavy cream before adding tortellini.
