Soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with sweet cherry preserves and topped with almond icing for a delightful twist on the classic treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup cherry preserves or jam
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup sliced almonds, lightly toasted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix in melted butter, eggs, and salt.
  3. Gradually add flour, stirring until dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle, approximately 12×18 inches.
  6. Spread cherry preserves evenly over dough, leaving a ½-inch border. Sprinkle evenly with brown sugar, cinnamon, and sliced almonds.
  7. Roll dough tightly from the long edge, sealing seam at the bottom.
  8. Cut into 12 even rolls. Place rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise 30-45 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk until smooth. Drizzle icing over warm rolls.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute cherry preserves with fresh cherries or cherry pie filling for added texture.
  • For extra almond flavor, sprinkle additional sliced almonds over the icing.
  • Rolls can be prepared the night before, refrigerated, and baked fresh in the morning.
