Cherry Sauce (Microwave)

Quick and easy microwave cherry sauce perfect for topping desserts like cheesecake, ice cream, or pancakes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen pitted cherries
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and water.
  2. Microwave on high for 2 minutes, then stir thoroughly.
  3. Continue microwaving in 1-minute intervals, stirring after each interval, until the sauce has thickened and cherries are softened, about 3–4 minutes total.
  4. Stir in almond extract, if using, and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust sugar amount based on sweetness of cherries.
  • Sauce thickens as it cools.
  • Can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to a week.
