Chocolate Scrambled Oats

A warm, comforting, and chocolatey twist on scrambled oats, perfect for a quick and healthy breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: banana slices, berries, nuts, or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, cocoa powder, honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  2. In a nonstick pan, add rolled oats and milk. Cook over medium heat until the oats begin to soften, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Pour in the cocoa-egg mixture and stir continuously, scrambling the oats gently as they cook.
  4. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens and looks like soft scrambled oats.
  5. Serve warm with your choice of toppings like banana slices, berries, or nuts.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness to taste by adding more or less honey/maple syrup.
  • For extra creaminess, stir in a spoonful of yogurt or nut butter before serving.
  • Use unsweetened cocoa powder for a healthier option.
