Creamy Vanilla Dream Ice Cream

This creamy vanilla ice cream is a rich and velvety dessert, made with a perfect balance of vanilla flavor and smooth texture, making it a timeless favorite for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warmed, but not boiling.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and salt together until smooth.
  3. Slowly pour the warm cream mixture into the egg yolks while whisking continuously to temper the eggs.
  4. Return the combined mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon (about 170°F or 77°C).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Strain the custard through a fine mesh sieve into a clean bowl to remove any cooked egg bits.
  7. Allow the custard to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  8. Once chilled, pour the custard into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  9. Transfer the ice cream to a container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

  • This ice cream can be served plain or topped with your favorite fruits or chocolate sauce.
  • Ensure the custard mixture is completely cooled before churning for the best texture.
  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can freeze the custard mixture in a shallow pan and stir every 30 minutes until it becomes creamy and firm.
