  • 2 cups buttercream frosting
  • Gel food coloring (pastel shades: pink, lavender, green)
  • Edible glitter or luster dust
  • Edible flowers (such as pansies, violets, or rose petals)
  • Sugar decorations (mushrooms, butterflies, fairy toppers)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, mixing until smooth.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool cakes completely before frosting.
  8. Tint buttercream frosting with pastel gel food colors.
  9. Assemble and frost the cake, smoothing the surface with an offset spatula.
  10. Decorate with edible flowers, glitter, and sugar decorations to create a fairy garden look.
  11. Chill slightly before serving to set decorations.

  • Use edible flowers that are pesticide-free and safe for consumption.
  • You can substitute with store-bought cake mix for convenience.
