These garlic shrimp tacos are packed with bold flavor, featuring juicy shrimp sautéed in garlic and spices, served in warm tortillas with fresh toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 avocado, sliced (optional)
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, garlic, paprika, cumin, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  3. In a small bowl, mix sour cream (or Greek yogurt) with lime juice to make a quick crema.
  4. Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft.
  5. Assemble tacos by adding shrimp to each tortilla, topping with slaw, cilantro, avocado slices, and a drizzle of lime crema.
  6. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • You can use pre-cooked shrimp, just warm them through with the garlic and spices.
  • For extra flavor, grill the tortillas before assembling the tacos.
  • Try adding pickled onions or jalapeños for a tangy kick.
