- 2 cups milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger (or 1/2 inch fresh ginger, grated)
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 tsp coconut oil or ghee (optional)
- 1–2 tsp maple syrup or honey (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, add milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper.
- Whisk well to combine and heat until hot but not boiling, about 5-7 minutes.
- If using, stir in coconut oil or ghee until melted and combined.
- Add sweetener and vanilla extract (if using), then whisk again.
- Remove from heat and pour into a mug through a fine mesh strainer if needed.
- Enjoy warm, optionally topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Notes
- Black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric.
- Use plant-based milk like almond, oat, or coconut for a vegan version.
- Fresh ginger can be substituted for ground ginger for a more vibrant taste.
