Grilled Bratwursts with Peppers

Grilled bratwursts served with a medley of colorful bell peppers and onions, perfect for summer cookouts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bratwurst sausages
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 sandwich rolls or hoagie buns (optional)
  • Mustard or other desired condiments (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat.
  2. Place the bratwursts on the grill and cook for 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally until evenly browned and cooked through.
  3. While the brats are grilling, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add sliced bell peppers and onions to the skillet. Sauté for about 10–12 minutes until soft and lightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Remove bratwursts from the grill and let rest for a couple of minutes.
  6. Serve the bratwursts on buns topped with the sautéed peppers and onions. Add condiments if desired.

Notes

  • Use a grill pan to prevent smaller veggies from falling through the grates.
  • Bratwursts can be parboiled in beer before grilling for extra flavor.
  • For a spicier option, add jalapeños to the pepper mix.
