- 4 slices of bread
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Place two slices, butter-side down, onto the skillet.
- Layer each with 2 slices of cheese and tomato slices. Season with salt and pepper.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Cook for 2–4 minutes per side or until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve hot.
Notes
- Use ripe tomatoes for best flavor.
- Swap cheddar with mozzarella or your favorite cheese for variation.
- For a crunchier texture, grill on a panini press.
