- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 3–4 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Edible glitter or star sprinkles
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, egg, salt, and yeast mixture.
- Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into donut shapes.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
- For glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Dip warm donuts into glaze, then sprinkle with edible glitter or star sprinkles.
- Let set on a wire rack before serving.
