Mozzarella Balls with Basil

A simple and refreshing appetizer featuring creamy mozzarella balls paired with fresh basil leaves, often served with a drizzle of olive oil or balsamic glaze.

Ingredients

  • 200g mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Drain the mozzarella balls and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Wash and dry the basil leaves.
  3. Arrange mozzarella balls and basil leaves on a serving plate, alternating them or skewering them together on toothpicks if desired.
  4. Drizzle olive oil over the top.
  5. Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze if using.
  6. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  7. Serve immediately or chill for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use high-quality olive oil for the best flavor.
  • Cherry tomatoes can be added for extra color and taste.
  • Can be prepared ahead and kept in the fridge for up to 2 hours.
