Peach Cobbler

A classic Southern dessert made with sweet, juicy peaches and a buttery, biscuit-like topping, baked until golden and bubbling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (about 6 cups)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Let sit for 10 minutes to release juices.
  3. Pour the melted butter into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and vanilla extract, and stir until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
  6. Spoon the peach mixture (including juices) evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the cobbler is bubbling.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • You can use canned or frozen peaches if fresh ones aren’t available.
  • Adjust sugar based on the sweetness of the peaches.
