  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make the crust: In a medium bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Stir in flour until dough forms. Press evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
  3. Prepare apple filling: In a bowl, toss diced apples with flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  4. Make crumb topping: In another bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter. Mix with a pastry cutter or fingers until crumbly.
  5. Assemble bars: Spread apple mixture evenly over the warm crust. Sprinkle crumb topping on top.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes until topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
  7. Cool completely before cutting into bars. Drizzle with salted caramel sauce before serving.
