- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 tsp unflavored gelatin
- 3 tbsp cold water
- 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tbsp sugar (for strawberries)
- Fresh mint or extra strawberries for garnish (optional)
- In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water and let it bloom for 5-10 minutes.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved and mixture is hot but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in the bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
- Add vanilla extract and stir to combine.
- Pour the mixture into serving glasses or molds. Allow to cool slightly, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine strawberries and sugar. Cook over medium heat until strawberries break down and form a sauce (about 5-7 minutes).
- Let the strawberry sauce cool. Then spoon over the chilled panna cotta.
- Garnish with fresh mint or strawberries before serving if desired.
Notes
- Use ripe, sweet strawberries for the best flavor.
- You can strain the strawberry sauce for a smoother texture.
- Panna cotta can be made a day in advance for convenience.
